Shutting down

Not that I think anyone reads this blog anymore but, I have stopped playing EOJ. I found the price structure, the delays, the lack of online functions and the general lack of information about the future of the game untenable. Hence since I am no longer playing the game I am no longer going to be running this blog about Eye of Judgment. Thank you for reading have a good day.

We Are Now Official

As you can see to the side there my poor little blog has been granted official EOJ Site status along with 5 or so others. What this means is I will be getting some news and insight into things so I can share them with you lovely readers.

Speaking of my readers I need to apologize and ask that you bear with me a little longer I know the updates have been fairly slow but, my work decided to try a new schedule that involved me and 10 hours a day 7 days a week which leaves me time enough to curse upper management then eat and go to bed. I promise though that there will be more and more frequently once this marathon session at work is over.

Spire of Juno Eye of Judgment Set 2

Well it is somewhat hard to compete with I love Judgment's card previews since he has the advantage of being able to translate the cards from the Japanese site but, I will do my poor best here with the next card Spire of Juno.

As it easy to remember this cards summon, attack, HP, and activation as they are all 8's. Which is pretty hefty no matter which way you look at it. I mean yes it does pack a huge wallop and yes it should stick around for at least a few turns however you will definitely burn your mana pool to bring this thing out. Luckily it does have the Incarnation ability you can use on non-Biolith creatures to lower the cost a little bit. Though doing so means you wont get to smash something for some massive magic damage...did we mention the card has a magic attack. There is however a reason for using this cards incarnation ability since it has a very nice mana gaining feature IF your opponent is using Biolith creatures. Gaining 2 mana extra mana is an outstanding ability..IF as I said your opponent is using Biolith cards. If not well this card would prolly be better relegated to a lapse. This card like the fist is fairly straightforward and doesn't and wouldn't require a combo to set up and use. It will likely take the place of a big hitter though since even with Incarnation it is really expensive to summon. And being Non Element is a double edged sword really since while it can't be targeted by things like Scion or Watchtower. It also doesn't receive any benefits of things like lower summoning cost and lower activation cost the Biolith and elements can get.

So my final judgment on this card is positive with reservations. Think long and hard before playing this one kiddo's since from the looks of a lot of set 2 cards Biolith decks might not be as prevalent as they are right now. So I would not count on it's mana gain ability. Though it would be a nice card to have to go along with other mana gainers. All in all it is a decent card. Just very expensive but, very strong.

Eye of Judgment Set 2 Delayed (And a thanks to the community)

So mixed news on the PlayStation blog today. I will quickly go over the main gist of the blog post. The positive news is the people behind Eye of Judgment seem to be taking a more active role in working with the different EOJ communities. Even going as far as giving a shout out to the best of them. I am flattered to be mentioned since I have not been on top of the updates like I originally planned. That is neither here nor there though.

Now for the bad news. Apparently the US release of the cards is unexpectedly delayed. No effect on Europe and Japan however which is somewhat unfortunate but, nothing to get your panties in a bunch over. Hopefully the delay will be less then a week or so however considering the cards and update was going to drop next week and they announced there was a problem does not bode well.

The last bit of news is that there is a Set 2 video available for download however I will share it here as well because it is just that cool.

Fist of Juno Eye of Judgment Set 2

Welcome to my series on the non elemental Sacred card series. Or the Of Juno cards since each one is a different...er..element of Juno..or non element of Juno. If you can call a fist an element (non element) Anyway lets get to the review.

The first card we are gonna touch on is Fist of Juno, here we easily have the strong arm of the non elemental family. Weighing at a beefy 9 HP and dealing 9 damage. It is difficult to tell his attack pattern from the picture though the screen shot of his summon suggest it only covers one square. His stats are impressive, thankfully all of the Sacreds come with a incarnation ability limited to non Biolith creatures. So we are looking at still a stiff cost though not insurmountable. This is definitely not the guy to incarnate to get out of check though remember that. Speaking of his abilities lets take a look at those. As I believe the most powerful compared to the abilities we have seen in Eye of Judgment thus far. Though his ability is not so different then say a Dwarf Sniper the scope is far superior. I think you can safely call this card the ultimate dodge killer. He has a hell of a cost though. And once you summon him you better be real glad of his ability since the odds of paying that activation cost is not likely. Especially if you paid to summon him in the first place. There is not really any combos that jump out to mind to use with him though. He does what he does that will make things easier if your opponent plays dodging creatures. He would be a nice pair with a lapse if you found his ability less then useful and the cost too much for that game. i think I would find myself summoning him to attack so at least I can get in one of those devastating 9 hp strikes in rather then incarnating him just for his ability. My final judgment on this card is IF you end up getting him and he is your only sacred. I cant see how having him would really be a horrible thing. His ability is only good versus dodging creatures but, he still has a hell of a lot of hit points and he hits harder than Mike Tyson after you just told him you couldn't pay back the money you borrowed. There are other Sacreds that I would perhaps want to use more than this one but, if he was all I had then better him then nothing. Which I suppose is a poor recommendation.

Set 2 Eye of Judgment Information Finally a Price!

All kinds of new Eye of Judgment set 2 information on the Playstation blog. Including the revealing of the "s" letter starting cards. Sacreds these are Non Elemental cards that all posses incarnation on any NON Biolith creature. In addition every one has a real nice secondary ability. Especially the Gain 2 mana if the opponent has a Biolith summon the board. Or the no dodging ability. Of course we will be reviewing those cards. Confirmation that there are phantoms in this set as they say there will be more information coming next week. Also there is some kind of promotional card but, they don't give a lot of information on those.

The Biggest news dropped of all however is the price of the expansion in the U.S. $14.99!. That is far less then the before mentioned $30 price tag rumored from before and while Free would have been better that is not a bad price at all. Well don't just take my word for it check it out for yourself.

Giving Props to the Competition

So even though I probably should not be saying good things about my competing blog sites. I am of the opinion that there is more then enough room for anything giving more information about EOJ and providing service to the community. Like DAN on EOJinfo with his awesome deck build I would have to say his is likely the best especially with the card displays. Or the relaunched Lbshooters and the tournament services it offers are second to none. In fact it is my opinion that these two guys should get together and put their one into one concentrated effort and you would only need to visit ONE forum for deck building an outstanding community and excellent competitive tournaments.

However that was not the purpose of this ramble.

I Love Judgment is another blog out there and it seems to be about the same age as my own but, it seems to be just as active as well. Especially recently. So what does he offer on his site? I am glad you asked since it is a fairly unique service. There is apparently an official Sony Japan EOJ site called EOJ Tsuushin (Which translates as EOJ Connection, we all knew that right) That updates frequently and he translate the more salient points for us poor folk who can't speak Japanese.

Ps3 Firmware 2.17 Update

Not much to add to what is said but, this should be good for those having random EOJ match disconnects. Here is what Jeff had to say on the Ps3 Blog.

"If you’ve signed in to the PLAYSTATION Network tonight on your PS3, you probably noticed that you were prompted to upgrade the system’s firmware to v2.17. In case you were wondering what it’s all about (and a quick Google search indicates that yes, you are) the operating stability of some online PS3 titles has been improved."

Not a big update but, it is a .07 update not even a full .1 so you can't expect much. And while yes it might not be this awesome update anything that adds stability to Online games is a plus in my book.

EDIT: This meant to say 2.17 not 2.7 sorry for the confusion.

Subscribe to EOJ Central Via Email

So a few new updates the Blog, due to popular request I have added the ability to subscribe to the Blog Via Email. So now instead of having to hover constantly over the blog waiting anxiously for a new post. (Oh yes I know you guys just wait all day). You now can be notified whenever there is an update via email. The link is over there to the Right.

Also I have added a RSS feed function to the Website again the link is right under the Email link. So now you have all kinds of new ways to be informed of the updates to EOJ Central. If anyone has problems with either function send me an email or a message in this post so I can address them immediately.

Get your Friends on EOJ

I am not normally a sales driven guy. Granted I do look for good deals but, if I want something I am gonna figure out a way to save up for it or I just don't get it simple as that. However I know most of you have friends who have said to you "I might play EOJ but, I am not spending 70 bucks for a card game" Well now you have a way to convert them over. Amazon is selling the Eye of Judgment bundle for $45. That is right $5 more then the price of the camera they to can get a copy of Eye of Judgment and join the community. Looks like it has free shipping as well. For those too lazy to find it on their own here is the link.

Aluhja Inquisitrix Eye of Judgment Set 2

Here we go again with the next card review. Aluhja Inquisitrix, of all the cards listed so far she maintain that 5 mana summon cost which seems to be fairly common. However she does have 5base hit points which is nice. Her magic attack is 2 which is cool but, for 3 activation that is not so cool. However lets take a look at her abilities which are where her summon cost really comes from. The first ability basically gives you a complete reason to run three cards of a type since once you summon one you can go through your deck and get all the rest of them out of your deck and put them in your hand. To me that partially negates the need to run any card drawing summons or card in your deck since you can potentially be drawing two cards each time you summon a card.

This also ties into her secondary ability which is really nice, all Church of Parmus cards gain 1 dodge attempt. So lets do a Church of Parmus roll call. Partmole Fire Oracle, Aluhja Priestess, Flame Magus, and Koog. Already I see something cool developing here. With the exception of Koog who you technically want to die anyway. The other three offer huge potential. Granted the Priestess already has a dodge but, this card gives her two attempts and still an attempt even if she gets field quaked. Your Flame Magus that you summoned for one mana now has a dodge and your beefy Fire Oracle also has a dodge. So three magic creatures that all dodge like crazy. Not to mention as I said about her first ability you slap down one priestess and you are now holding both of the others in your hand if you run three.

Final judgment, yes she costs a lot but, she certainly gives good return on the investment. Her activation is a little suspect but, her abilities are top shelf. She is good enough in fact to build a deck around her abilities which very few cards are like that.

Goblin Fort

The current card under scrutiny is the New Wood Fortress i.e. Goblin Fort, however it's more of a Green Bandit Fortress. Most Set 2 cards seem to be focusing on Affiliation bonuses & the Goblin Fort is no different. Having the standard summoning cost of most fortresses (4) and an activation cost of (3), however till now there is no way to activate a fortress. It has an impressive amount of HP (6) signifying it's durability on the battlefield. The bonus that this card grants is something to be looked at, switching all Allied Green Bandits Card's Attack & HP. This would mean that Summoned Twin Goblins will have (3) Attack & (1) HP. The (1) HP would also trigger another ability that the Green Fort grants; Dodge Attempt at 1 (HP) For all Green Bandit Creatures. I suppose the Twin Goblins will not be as completely useless as before infact if played with the Green Fort they could be devestating. Also summoned Leapfrog bandits would also have a dodge attempt, since they have (1) HP & (1) Attack anyway. So far there are only 3 Green Bandit Cards, The two mentioned above and Green Erkling Zomba. However in conclusion i would say it looks like an interesting card with serious potential but that can only be confirmed once the Green Bandits in Set 2 are bought to light.

EOJ Central Chatroom

Just a bit of information here we do have an IRC chat server. Now a few of you might be wondering what IRC is and how to use it. Well basically IRC means Internet Relay Chat, and it is just what is sounds like an easy to use chat interface. How do you use it..well that also is fairly simple there are A LOT of programs that can access IRC the most common being Mirc. At that link is also a basic explanation on how to use MIRC. Another option for those who use Firefox is Chatzilla.

The server is GAMESURGE ( irc.gamesurge.net ) which is by default on the list of MIRC servers once you join the channel is #EoJCentral
If you use MIRC or Chatzilla or your IRC client supports web linking you can click this link to go directly to the channel EOJCENTRAL

To register on the server (Not 100% required but, recommended) you have two options described in better details HERE

Oh and one last way to join is a web based java client there is no installation required for this option. JAVA LINK

The purpose of the chat room is to provide an easier way to match up with people and also to provide instant help to those that need it. Also it is to bring the community closer together so come by play some trivia or whatever.

General Lug Eye of Judgment Set 2

GeneralLug
Originally uploaded by PlayStation.Blog
Alright folks sorry for the time out. The next card to fall under my own eye of judgment would be General Lug. What to say about this card. Well to start at the beginning he has the same attack pattern we have expected to see from the other warlords. As well as the six(6) summon cost. He does have a healthy attack at three(3) but, an awful activation cost of five(5). Also he carries the same ability as the other warlords and that is for fire creatures he lowers the summoning cost and if you run a fire deck that is good. However his ability...I don't know what to say other then perhaps they are going to add more invisibility creatures because at the moment this card is pretty much only good against a ninja deck or to kill those few other cards that are invisible. To me at the moment this is a waste power and knowing my luck this is what I am gonna find in my first booster pack.

Anyway final judgment a below average card. Only it's fire invocation ability keeps it from being worthless. However if there are more invisibility creatures in set two perhaps it will be more worthwhile.

More Champions Online

So as you can see this will be a common update for me is Champions Online a few days ago IGN showed the first trailer for the game. I will show it after the post. I must say a lot of what they talk about the character creation system has me very intrigued. A bit of back story though the game came out in in 1981 and it used a fairly complex point based system to create unique super heroes. The amount of powers and deviation on said powers made no two heroes alike. Even if one flew with wings and used a bow that shot electric arrows the guy next to him was just really strong guy who could run jump real far to the guy who used to copy his favorite hero. (Ahh Stabby McStabberson I miss you.) Soooo...As I was saying the MMO itself is promising many of those same features such as customizable powers a level we never say in City of Heroes which wasn't a bad MMO in many ways and I enjoyed it for awhile until it advanced too slowly. Hopefully it gets added to the Ps3 but, right now it is just limited to the 360 and the PC.

Dwarf Sniper Eye of Judgment Set 2

The next card I will be profiling will be the Dwarf Sniper. This card probably generated more buzz on the forums when it first appeared then any other card. Mainly because of it's wonderful ability. Enemies within TWO fields in front of the Dwarf Sniper cannot dodge. Now read that closely because what the means is not only can the Dwarf Sniper hit that creature it means that creature cannot dodge at all. I am going to take that to mean Perfect Dodge as well since Perfect dodge is still dodging. To mix metaphors it means he clips their wings. That is outstanding ability but, is he worth the cost. As you look at his other stats he is a two (2) summon with three (3) base hit points and the ability to attack at range. Granted his attack is only one (1) However I would easily say that he is worth just as much as all those people who think their deck wont work without an Aluhja Priestess. I am hoping that his secondary ability means we will see more Blackhoods however from the look of things there will be a lot more factions of all kinds to go around. If you take a look down the affiliation list right there is just him and Blackhood Dwarf Vulitra which is a rather small alliance but, some summons like the Church of Parmus have five and Biolith Castle have. Some of the affiliations I expect to be small such as the Corsez family it is none the less good to see them fleshing out the group affiliations.

Final Judgment on this card is very positive. I personally will be finding a place in my own deck for this card even though his secondary ability will likely go never used. Hit main ability is too good to pass up and his hit points are respectable.

Marshal Akum Eye of Judgment Set 2

MarshalAkum
Originally uploaded by PlayStation.Blog
Welcome back and let me get on to the next card I am going to attempt to give a review on. Marshal Akhum. So first a little background it appears Warlords and castles or forts are a major focus this time around with many cards centered around countering cards that came out in set 1 of Eye of Judgment. Marshal Akhum is no exception to this rule. Like all the other warlords shown so far he has a summon cost of six (6). However he also has easily the highest hit point total of any of the other four Warlords shown. All warlords have Invocation as well as the ability to attack like a dominion spell. This gentlemen unique ability is purely a counter ability. It is a fairly nice one however myself personally have yet to discover a really troubling discard deck so it is a fairly situational ability. However thankfully as I said about his hit points he does have a lot of them, nine (9) on an earth field. So expect him to stick around a decent amount of time and freely attack those creatures you generally left alone before. Three activation with only a one attack is nothing spectacular but, at least he attacks more then one square yet I still find him sub par in ability to Lord Hu. One bone of contention I have with all the Warlords is that their attack is considered a magic attack which means that they have no counterattack ability. Granted some appear in their picture like they could not attack physically but, General Lug for example he looks physically capable enough. Anyway I digress you should really not let me get off track that one.

Final Summery like all Invocation playing this card in an Earth central deck is not a bad idea and putting him in your own discard deck might not be a bad idea just for those people who play a few discards in their deck so you can double whammy them. But, it is very situational if it was not for his seven base hit points I would totally pass on this card. As it is now I say he is just average.

Lord Hu Eye of Judgment Set 2

So the most immediate thing I notice on this card is that this is what you summon if you want to know how many licks it takes to get the center of a tootsie roll pop. Also you notice that he reduces wood creatures summon cost by 1 (To a minimum of one). As if that is not all he gains you one point of mana for every enemy summon is destroyed. That seems to go along with a lot of the theme this time around MANA gain. Now this Roger Daltry stand in also has a fairly complicated attack pattern for a creature (It attacks like a Dominion spell from set 1) that I think might catch the uninitiated off guard being attacked by or attacking with it. Now my opinion is that this card would be the most versatile of the warlords I have seen because any deck could use the mana feature. Obviously it's best use would be a wood heavy deck since not only would it create mana it makes your wood creatures cost less. The six mana cost is rather steep but, I think it's ability is alot more useful then most of the nobles from set one. So I definitely give this card a Thumbs Up.

Ship Surgeon Eye of Judgment Set 2

Shipsurgeon
Originally uploaded by PlayStation.Blog
We are gonna work on a profiling a card or two a day from SET 2 until the set hits stores. First up on the chopping block is Ship's Surgeon. As you can see he is a four summon two cost creature with an attack of two and four hit points. Nothing to really write home about there. However his ability is what really shines. Stealing a mana each time one of your own allied Siam Pirates dodges so that makes you go WOW..wait how many Siam Pirates are there. Well according to affiliation just him and the Cloud Runner itself and I would think Siam might be considered a Siam Pirate also however neither Siam nor Ship's Surgeon have dodge abilities so that does limit it's ability. Since it is requiring some third party cards such as the monk or Latoo to create dodge abilities on these cards. His other ability is when a water creature is destroyed to search your deck and pull out a NON ultra-rare reveal it and put it in your hand. Not to poor an ability if you run a deck that just can't run while missing that one important card. Either ability alone would be adequate though not outstanding both together and his fairly moderate hp make him a good choice for those running cloud runners though I would definitely not consider him a stand out card since he requires a combination to be most effective.

New set 2 Information on the Playstation blog

As you can see by the RSS feed on the side there is a ton of new information on the Playstation Blog
about set 2. Including a confirmed fact that there will be a price on set 2. Though they have not revealed that price as of yet I am not very happy myself about that fact. I recommend you go and read the post for more details as anything I put here will be a pale shadow of the plethora of information posted there.

Champions Online

Alright this is a little of the beaten path but, I cannot help but to be completely stoked about this news. Apparently Cryptic studios despite some rough moments with Microsoft has decided to go ahead and create it's new Superhero MMo. And their choice to base the world on. CHAMPIONS. Damn right I said..even though no one else was around. I have loved the game since I first played it in about 1986 and even to this date I still love it. I still have a large notebook of superheroes that have never seen the light of a tabletop game but, I still spent hours making them just for the enjoyment of it. So go check out their blog, go sign up for their forums, go tighten your mask and tights and prepare for the Champions MMO.

Speaking of which my tights are a little too tight Middle Aged man probably needs a new pair.

Quick Update on Lbshooters

It looks like Lbshooters is going down for a face lift but, from the early look of things it will be a nice and exhaustive overhaul of the site. They are slated to go back into full swing March 14th. Meanwhile you can still access their forums here.

EOJ Websites

So I decided to share some information about the Eye of Judgment websites available and a brief outline as to what they do.

First up EOJINFO with a lot of updates this site has gotten better and better and with it's graphic card display and growing community I think is easily the best card management system available on the web. The deck draw feature is outstanding and it has an active community. My only cons I would say the site has is while the graphic interface for creating decks and collections is amazing (especially the card pop up displays) It is not as intuitive as I would like and could perhaps use a little more explanation.

Second up Lbshooters now while this system very likely has the smallest community number wise it is quite an active site with a very familial feel to it. However being a tournament site that is what it excels at. As there are more matchmaking setups (Tournaments, Leagues, Pickup Round Robin events, even a play by forum system) then any other site. Some of it's cons however a lack of automated setups of tournaments and other play which means it is all administrator set up which at times can be fairly slow.

Third on my list is myEOJ. Is quite easily the largest community. It's collection and deck making system is quite easy to set up and given it's large community there are many trades going on here. The interface is clean and simple if a little plain but, it does have a feature that can create a bar to display your deck as a bar in forums which is a nice feature. Cons unfortunately this site has seem some rocky moments with long periods of non moderate forums and most recently a short web outage. However I still recommend it highly.

The last fully functioning website I am gonna mention is eojmanager. Unless I am mistaken this is the first of them all the first card management system and what it does it does well. You wont find a lot of other bells and whistles here just a card management system. I am not sure what else I can say about this site as it actually has a very small forum community but, really it does exactly what the name says so not much to complain about here. However Poisonfrog recommends it so that counts for something.

The last website to mention is the Black Cubic I separate it from the other since really it is a news website and the updates on it have been fairly anemic of late. However they do do individual card reviews which is a nice feature.

Alright I am sure I left out someone and they will be mad at me, or not care at all but, that is my impressions of all the Eye of Judgment websites I know of. Also this list of reviews is based solely on my impression no guarantee of it being 100% factual...though it should be at least close enough for horseshoes.

myEOJ returns

All right then it appears that after a brief Hiatus myEOJ has returned to the internet no news on what happened but, we are glad to see them back in action.

Upcoming Interview

Hello again, so I figured I would share a few things that I have up and coming. First for all those aspiring video creators unhappy with the inability to save your complete ownage we are going to have an interview with a Mr Goodbar. (Sample video after the post) And we will find out how he does what he does, why he does it, and perhaps how many licks it takes to the center of a tootsie roll pop. (Is it three or does the owl lie)

In addition I have a few interviews lined up and planned with some of the top ranked gamers, lets see how they feel about the ranking system, find out a little about their strategy and perhaps see how much they spent on their Scion.

PLUS I have a surprise interview in the works but, I don't want to say anything much about that in case things fall through or I curse myself. And that will be it for todays news we return you to your regularly scheduled match.

MrGoodbarX85 vs XxKingDoormanxX

Grand Opening

Good day to you fellow Eye Of Judgment fans. Rory here AKA GunKata. This is the first post of my Eye of Judgment and other general PS3 type events blog. This is actually my first blog so you will have to bear with me as I have not written for human consumption in quite some time and I am sure some of you may find it unpalatable. I am going to keep this first bit rather short and simple (not sweet as I do not think I can manage sweet.

First of all this is just the placeholder for my blog I will be getting it cleaned up and organized as quickly as I can. However I am more concerned with getting information (both important and nonsensical) out rather then the aesthetics of page.

Secondly I would like to give some word out on my IRC channel. It is new and more people are joining everyday and using it to easily set up quick matches with people they know or can at least talk to before hand something the PS3 setup just can not handle at the moment. Information on how to get into the chat room is available HERE.

Thirdly I want to give out some acknowledgments to a few websites out there who have gone above and beyond in setting up communities and giving us features that advance the enjoyment of our game. LBSHOOTERS ; EOJINFO I know there are others but, those two are among the best and it seems that MYEOJ has gone awol for a few days.

I will leave it at that for now so stay tuned.
